Kievan Rus - Premium Purchases

 Directly below the research button (mobile) is the shortcut to Premium Purchases. There are 5 tabs to choose from ... I have only used the far right (red button with white arrow). The other 4 tabs require payments in US $s. The 5th tab takes you to a screen with 3 AdMob selections.

Top left will add 1000 gold for watching an advertisement. Of the three AdMob selections, this one I rarely use if ever.

Top right will add 40 gold per day (game day). Even though it doesn't look much, each advertisement adds another 40 gold per GameDay (approx 2-3 seconds real time). Currently I have over 10k gold per day coming in with Tribute set to zero across the board. I'll admit to get that income has taken hundreds of adds but, it's the reason why I rarely use the 1000 gold. I generate 10 times that amount every 2-3 seconds when the game is running. For a military campaign, run out of troops or gold, you are dead meat but with ample at your disposal, you will steamroll every state ... they simply cannot compete.

The third AdMob gives you gems. Gems reduce time (research time, march time) but they play a very important roll in gameplay particularly attacking and annexing states.

Kievan Rus - Research

 Previous entry "Kievan Rus - Winning" lists the three things needed to achieve a military victory: research; troops & economy (gold). Of these three, research is the easiest to explain.

To the left of your state emblem eg. 🔱 are 3 buttons (mobile), three lines uppermost (list of credits); middle = research & lower = shortcut to in-game purchases. Research is divided into 4 categories: Economy; Warfare; Diplomacy & Colonization. There are several researches in each category.

While research won't achieve a military victory alone, having strong troops lowers troop losses significantly. This in turn reduces troop replacements ---> lowers costs. To ignore research completely though is to severely hamstring your efforts.

Once the research has started, you only need to wait the allotted time period or spend gems as a speedup. Spending gems is Premium Currency. To get gems you can spend US$??.00 or watch ads (as I did). Premium Currency covered as an entry on its own.

Kievan Rus - Winning

 I've placed this entry early for two reasons. Firstly, the point of playing any game is to 'win'. How one defines that term may vary from person to person. Even an unending game that brings satisfaction can be seen as a win.

The second reason is these blogs are a work in progress. I have not seen anything to help new players grasp the concepts of the game, so this is a record of successes in the hopes that victory will be realized and will leave a trail for others to follow and improve upon. If there is a comprehensive guide anywhere, please feel free to leave links in the comments sections.

In the Statistics command (main menu) is a tab labelled "1". This screen displays Military Victory... captured countries ??/74 as well as  Religious Victory ... countries confessing our religion ??/75 & colonies confessing our religion ??/117.

At time of writing, I am pursuing a Military Victory since converting the world religion looks rather daunting. Maybe later. I have defeated and annexed 18 states including the strongest. The remaining states although many, are significantly weaker. To grow in military strength you need three things: Tech research; Troops in large numbers and a very strong economy. These will be covered individually.

Kievan Rus - Main Menu

 Once the game is installed and any preliminary tutorials completed, the game will open to the main menu screen each time the app is tapped. Before reading on, ensure game is paused and read Kievan Rus - Introduction.

The 12 game commands are: CommandStaff; Troops; Diplomacy; Tribute; Trade; Production; Assemblies; Laws; Religion; Statistics; Population & Events.

To the left margin (mobile) are 4 functions: Achievements scroll (collect rewards along the way as you progress); Arrow ⬆️ (fast link to ads/purchases); News scroll (news from around the world) & Mail (envelope).

Right margin (mobile) has 3 functions ADDING a 4th. Tap any command or function and the 4th appears. It is a backscreen function returning you to the previous screen. It remains until you return to the Main Menu screen (where it disappears). The other 3 functions are 24hr gift (self explanatory); Movements (all movements affecting your state eg. trades, attacks etc.) & World Map.

Kievan Rus Introduction

Kievan Rus is a single player online strategy game developed by Oxiwyle. The game is set in 9th Century Europe/Asia. 

Single player means there is no opportunity to play with or against other players. The gameplay is strictly set to interact with AI/NPCs. If alliances or PvP is your thing, this is not for you.

The game opens with a host of command options available and your state emblem above these commands. To the immediate right of your state emblem are 3 vital gameplay options: Pause; Play & Double Play speed. IT IS IMPERATIVE that you pause the game ASAP!! The game will pause automatically when closed down or minimised, but it will run on an active window in play mode.
